Semi-Open/Semi-Closed Pump Impellers

What are Semi-Open/Semi-Closed Impellers?

An impeller is the key rotating component of a centrifugal pump that accelerates the media being pumped (usually liquid or mixed media with solid content) outward from the center of rotation, transferring energy from the motor that drives the pump to the fluid being pumped.

Semi-Open/Semi-Closed Pump Impellers have a back wall that adds mechanical strength to the vanes, while remaining open on one side. Semi-open impellers are somewhat of a cross between an open and closed impeller in terms of efficiency and Net Positive Suction Head (NPSH).
