Heat Resistant Stainless Steel
These grades have excellent strength and creep resistance at high temperatures. They offer better resistance to oxidizing or reducing atmospheres depending on their chemistry balance.
| Alloy Properties | |
|---|---|
| Representative Alloys | HK40, HT |
| Applications | For high strength and corrosion resistance at temperatures above 1200 F |
| Limitations | Exposure to service conditions may degrade room temperature ductility and weldability; cannot be hardened |
| Typical Uses | Petrochemical refining, heat treatment furnaces |
| Machinability | Fair. Slow feeds and deep cuts recommended |
| Weldability | Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) produces good results |
| Corrosion Resistance | Superior resistance to air, combustion gases, flue gases (reducing and oxidizing) and steam |
