Precipitation Hardening Stainless Steel

These grades offer reasonable corrosion resistance with extremely high strengths and hardness values obtained through heat treatments. The overall corrosion resistance of these materials is superior to most martensitic stainless steels but not as good as standard austenitic stainless steels.

Alloy Properties
Representative AlloysCB7Cu-1 and CB7Cu-2.
ApplicationsFor high-strength requirements (to 175 KSI); a superior combination of strength, toughness and weldability with moderately good corrosion resistance
LimitationsShould be used in an aged condition
Typical UsesStructural parts requiring at least moderate corrosion resistance
MachinabilityGood when in condition A (solutioned)
WeldabilityShould be welded in soft condition, then re-solutioned and re-aged
